Original A-bomb Drawings by Survivors Replaced

September 9, 2022

Original drawings created by atomic-bomb survivors (A-bomb Drawings by Survivors) are displayed in the Permanent Exhibition. To prevent the deterioration of the drawings, which survivors created recalling the scenes from that time, and to preserve them on a long-term basis, we regularly replace the drawings. This time, we replaced the six drawing on displays.

1 Period

From September 9, 2022 (Fri.) to February 13, 2023 (Mon.)

2 Location

The “Emotion Carried by the Brush” section in the Permanent Exhibition

3 Contents

Six drawings each of which pictures father and child after the atomic bombing

The collection of the A-bomb Drawings by Survivors began in 1974, when an atomic-bomb survivor brought a single drawing picturing his experience to the NHK Hiroshima Broadcasting Station. Currently, roughly 5,000 drawings are housed in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
