Other Facilities in the Museum

Coin lockers

● There are 88 coin lockers (a 100 yen coin is needed, but the coin will be returned afterwards) on the 1st floor of the East Building. To view the floor map, click here.

Vending machines

● Vending machines are available at Aogiri, the visitor’s Lounge on the 1st floor of the East Building. To view the floor map, click here.

 

Resting room

● If you do not feel well, please contact the staff at the Information counter on the 1st floor of the East Building or the nearest security officer. They will show you to the resting room (East Bldg. B1 or Main Bldg.) where you can rest on a bed.

 

Nursing room

● If you need to nurse your baby, please contact the staff at the Information counter or the nearest security officer. They will show you to the nursing room (East Bldg. B1 or Main Bldg.).

 

Place for worship

● There is no room specifically for worship. If you need a place for worship, please contact the staff at the Information counter or the nearest security guard. They will take you to a room available for worship (East Bldg. B1 or Main Bldg.). 

Prayer mat and compass are not supplied.

 

Public wireless LAN

● Hiroshima Free Wi-Fi is available in the museum except in the basement of the East Building.

 

AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

● An AED is located on the 1st floor of the East Building.

 

Information for visitors with disabilities

Priority entry

● If any of the following conditions below apply, you can skip the line and enter the museum on a priority basis:

 

visitors with disabilities and their helpers;
expectant mothers and their helpers;
visitors with preschool children; and
visitors requiring special assistance and their helpers.

 

Please contact the museum staff at the entrance.

 

Vehicles for visitors with disabilities driving inside the park

● Vehicles for persons with disabilities are allowed into the Peace Memorial Park.

Admission of assistance dogs into the Museum

●Assistance dogs (guide, service, and hearing dogs) are allowed in the Museum.

 

Elevator

Restrooms

● A multipurpose restroom (designed for people in wheelchairs, ostomates, or for changing diapers) is located on the 3rd floor of the East Building. To view the floor map, click here.

● In addition, there are restrooms available for people in wheelchairs or for changing diapers on the basement level one and the 1st floor of the East Building and in the Main Building. To view the floor map, click here.

 

Wheelchairs, strollers, walking sticks, and walking assist carts

● Wheelchairs, strollers, walking sticks, and walking assist carts are allowed in the Museum.

● The Museum has 6 wheelchairs and 4 strollers are available for free use. If you wish to use a wheelchair or a stroller, please ask the staff at the Information counter.

● You may leave your stroller with us while touring the Museum. If you wish, please inform the staff at the Information counter.

 

Accessibility for visitors with seeing difficulties

● Each section of the permanent exhibitions is equipped with braille panels (in Japanese).

● Hands-on exhibits are placed on the 3rd floor of the East Building. (The exhibits are available for all visitors.) To view the floor map, click here.

● We have other Hands-on exhibits available in separate rooms. Since the exhibits are not displayed in the permanent exhibitions, please contact the Curatorial Division in advance if desired.

Information for visitors with hearing difficulties

● Japanese sign language is available on the translation systems, which is installed in every section of the permanent exhibitions. To use this service, simply push the sign-language button.

● In the Video Theater on the 1st floor of the East Building, videos are presented with Japanese sign language as well as subtitles in Japanese and English. To view the floor map, click here.
