Message of Pope Francis is on display along with a candle given to Hiroshima City
On November 24, 2019, Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church visited Hiroshima City for first time in 38 years since Pope St John Paul II's visit, to attend the Meeting for Peace that was held in Peace Memorial Park. The pontiff wrote a message for peace, lit candles in front of the Cenotaph for the A-bomb Victims, dedicated flowers and offered prayers. He also listened to stories of survivors, and then delivered a speech calling for peace.
We hope the exhibit will help visitors learn about the Pope's sincere desire for peace and share the spirit of Hiroshima striving for a everlasting peaceful world free from nuclear weapons.
