The Main Building is currently closed for renovations.

December 12, 2017

Since the FY 2011, based on the “Basic Plan for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum Displays”, developed in July 2010, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum has been carrying out the comprehensive renovations to convey the reality of the atomic bombing and inhumanity of nuclear weapons in more accurate ways.

Along with the East Building's reopening, we closed the Main Building to continue renovations. When renovations are completed, the Main Building will offer a better understanding regarding the reality of the atomic bombing: the inhumanity of the atomic bomb, the severity and atrocity of the damage wrought by the A-bombing, and the anguish and sorrow of the victims as well as their bereaved families.

The comprehensive renovations process of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is to be completed in spring of 2019.
