880 m from the hypocenter Mikawa-cho Donated by Shigeru Yokoyama

Takaaki Yokoyama (then 25) was a special researcher at Tokyo Imperial University’s graduate school. He was exposed to the atomic bombing at his parents’ home in Mikawa-cho while he was staying there to organize his grandfather’s library, and suffered burns and injuries. Together with his family, he took refuge in a house in Ushita-machi which his parents had rented for emergency, then moved to Gono Village, Takata County where some of their household articles had been moved. Around August 15, Takaaki developed a high fever and diarrhea and was unable to eat. His younger brother, Shigeru (then 21), who was a medical student, desperately cared for Takaaki, but he died on August 22. These trousers were worn by Takaaki on the day of the bombing. His mother, Yuki, had carefully kept them.
