Concern for A-bomb survivors living in Korea grew in Japan. In September and October 1971, the Korean A-bomb Survivor Medical Group led by four doctors from Hiroshima performed medical exams in Seoul, Busan, and Hapcheon. Doctors and citizens launched a movement calling for a program to allow A-bomb survivors in Korea to receive treatment in Japan, where hospitals had more experience treating A-bomb illnesses. A number of Korean A-bomb survivors received this expert treatment in Hiroshima hospitals.
