The unprecedented destruction wrought by
the atomic bombings defy
the power of imagination.
Hiroshima's catastrophic devastation makes it plain
that nuclear weapons are too dangerous to tolerate.
They destroy human beings and whole societies.
Any use of a nuclear weapon
would be an unconscionable act of violence
that cannot be allowed.

Each of us must study and convey
the horror of Hiroshima and maintain a strong
will to eliminate nuclear weapons.
Fifty-seven years ago, today, and forever,
Hiroshima exists and will continue to resist
nuclear weapons and war.
