Now
Eastern Moto-machi has become a government district where the Hiroshima Prefectural Government and National Joint Government buildings can be found.
Western Moto-machi contains residential areas where the Moto-machi high-rise apartments sit and Chuo Park as well as cultural facilities such as Hiroshima Museum of Art, Hiroshima Central City Library, Hiroshima City Cinematographic and Audio-visual Library, Hiroshima Children’s Museum, and Hiroshima City Children’s Library, and sports facilities including Hiroshima Prefectural Sports Center and Family Swimming Pool.
As new facilities are introduced to the area, old ones disappear. The former Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium which supported Hiroshima’s post-war recovery together with its citizens has seen its final days and all that remains is a portion of the right field stands waiting for a new start.
