The Main Building is currently closed for renovations.
Since the FY 2011, based on the “Basic Plan for the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum Displays”, developed in July 2010, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum has been carrying out the comprehensive renovations to convey the reality of the atomic bombing and inhumanity of nuclear weapons in more accurate ways.
Along with the East Building's reopening, we closed the Main Building to continue renovations. When renovations are completed, the Main Building will offer a better understanding regarding the reality of the atomic bombing: the inhumanity of the atomic bomb, the severity and atrocity of the damage wrought by the A-bombing, and the anguish and sorrow of the victims as well as their bereaved families.
The comprehensive renovations process of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is to be completed in spring of 2019.
<Revised schedule for renovations>
The comprehensive renovations process of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was initially to be completed in July 2018. However, the schedule is postponed to in spring of 2019.
We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause, and ask for your understanding.
