The Main Building of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, designed by Kenzo Tange, was designated as the first national important cultural property in 2006 among the architectural buildings which were constructed after World War II. To prevent the building from seismic disaster, it is currently undergoing construction for earthquake resistance.
Prior to the construction, excavation work under the Main Building was conducted from November 2015 to March 2017. In the exhibition, a piece of the A-bombed layer cut from the ground is on display.
